There Was No Snow on Christmas Eve by Pam Muñoz Ryan
Pam Muñoz Ryan takes us on a journey to a night in Bethlehem when it didn’t snow on Christmas Eve but the silent night when angels sang above. There Was No Snow on Christmas Eve is a sweet intro to the night Jesus was born.
LJR’s Thoughts
Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled after I read this the first time. I’m not sure why. But I’ve read it a few times since and it is a wonderful book. The author brings you into what it may really have been like the night Jesus was born. The illustrations by Dennis Nolan are sweet and simple. And I could just sit and meditate on the goodness of God on the very last page.
This picture book isn’t fancy or big. It’s sweet and simple and nearly perfect.
Things Worth Noting
In our usual LJR fashion, we try to find anything that Christian families may want to know about ahead of time to address, skip, or dig deeper into. Take a look at what we found below. Our take on Discipleship Opportunities is at the bottom of the review.
Some creative liberty was obviously taken in presenting what the night of Jesus’ birth would’ve been like but that’s typical of anything historical. Nothing is outside the realm of possibility though and that’s the most important thing.
